Jumping the Rope

How many of you out there have jumped for exercise?  I have done it on occasion, more so while I was on the high school volleyball team.  At any rate, I dont do it very much at all.  Well, the other day Megan and I went to the gym and aside from our regular workouts we decided to do some jumping of the rope.  It was fun.  I probably jumped for about 25 minutes or so out of the 45 minutes I tried.  It was tough and I got a few sweet slaps against the shins but it did enforce a new respect for those who participate in the professional leagues, because it is definitely a lot tougher than what it seems.

I have been trying to figure out all of the ins and outs to working this blog. I can post a video now! This is a cute one of Ava with her new doll at Christmas.

Happy Birthday Jana

I hope you look happier on your birthday than you do in this picture. (I only had like 4 pictures to choose from.) Happy Birthday and we love you.

My favorite protein.

So I was thinking about what my favorite protein was today and so I found one that I think I like the most, its name is called Carbonic Anhydrase. This protein is found in our blood cells and what it does (if you didnt know already) is regulates our breathing. For example, it turns all of our CO2 into carbonic acid and then when the blood gets to our lungs it does just the reverse, which allows us to expel CO2. Cool huh? Okay, I admit... some of you might not be impressed with this, but that is only one of a few things it can do. The reason WHY it is my favorite is because it plays a large role in maintaining our water content. Thats right, it keeps us hydrated. Why is this important you might ask? Well, without proper water maintenance the pressure behind our eyes rises causing a push on our optic nerve, which we all know as glaucoma. A battle that our family has continued to fight. So you see, without carbonic anhydrase our eyes would be even more messed up.
